The Mangalitza is the only native Hungarian pig breed. Characteristic of the animals is their curly fur. In addition, the Mangalitza pig is one of the pig breeds in the world with the most fat. The Mangalitza pigs live on farms, that are family businesses specialized in the breeding of woolly pigs. On the farms of the breeders, the animals live on open land in the forest or in the meadow. In the grassy and earthy country, they can move freely and wallow to their heart's content. The animals feed on grain that grows locally. In spring and summer months, mangalitza pigs also eat grass and vegetables.

Mangalitza or Mangalica?
Whether Mangalitza or Mangalica - both spellings mean the same pig breed. The spelling with 'z' is the German spelling. In Hungary, however, the Mangalitza pig is written with 'c'.
